Charleston SC - Ansonborough Inn

To tell you the truth I had heard of the term Boutique hotel but wasn’t sure it always meant what it should.  After my stay at the Ansonborough Inn Charleston SC, a hotel referred to as a boutique hotel, I’m sold on the idea.  What does boutique hotel mean; to me it means a place that doesn’t subscribe to the sameness of so many other hotels.  Ansonborough Inn, was a feast for my eyes.  I enjoyed all the little touches from the fur and grass pillows in the lobby to the antique framed dog paintings lining the wall of the common room where both wine and cheese were served and a scrumptious breakfast.  I picked the place for several reasons.  First, the location (a few blocks from Market Street – a main attraction in Charleston), next to the water where we were taking a cruise from the home port of Charleston is made easy.  Second the price, where most 4-5 star hotels in Charleston will run you from $200-$400 a night, this boutique hotel had a mid week price was around  $119 a night.  Third the photos of the room, I have been disappointed in Charleston before using photos as a basis for a selection.  The beautiful plantation bed may change to an uncomfortable queen with little resemblance to anything looking Charleston chic.  At the Ansonborough Inn, the photo and the room looked so much alike, which was unusual because after talking with the staff, we learned that no two rooms at the hotel were exactly alike.  The Inn had once been a ware house by the water, but had been converted into the beautiful location for us to rest our heads.  Our room included a cathedral ceiling with chandeliers, a modern flat screen TV, King size bed that you sunk into and was so comfortable I felt like a princess, a red leather couch with antique coffee table, a wet bar with sink, refrigerator, microwave,  was a lovely antique dresser and desk with wireless internet connectivity and the a beautiful marble bathroom.   Books spread out on our coffee table highlighted Charleston and one wall was a white washed brick.  The combination of elements made the room unlike anything I had stayed in before.  As we walked out of our room, we could look down at the lobby below with the exposed timbers and had a choice of taking the stair case down or the glass elevator.
I love Charleston and usually spend most of my time either sampling a new restaurant or walking the streets to enjoy the splendor of the homes from another era, but on this trip I had to get back for the wine and cheese event that the inn included.  The relaxed atmosphere had us talking in no time with other guests and making new friends sharing traveling stories and that is what I guess I liked best about a place like the Ansonborough Inn.  It put us in beautiful surroundings where we felt like treasured guests.  The Inn had all the comforts of home and allowed us to mingle and meet new people as if we were attending an event at a friend’s house.  I will treasure my stay at the Inn and would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to the beautiful city of Charleston when booking your next trip with Pamper Me Travel
